Early Childhood and Instruction

Reared by his parents, Nancy C. and the late Guy M. Adami, Adami is the eldest of five children. Attaching Croton-Harmon High School, he gained All-League marks in basketball and varsity football and led both teams. Still among the longest recorded in high school football history, his 104-yard intercept return versus Hastings High School acknowledges his successes; he was named a Croton-Harmon High School Hall of Distinguished Graduates in 2010.

Adami attended Georgetown University following high school and graduated in 1986. He spoke on his experiences and observations on April 16, 2009, in the university’s “Witness to History” series.

Financial and television career

Adami started his career in 1986 with Drexel Burnham Lambert, working on the New York Mercantile Exchange floor. In 1996, he joined J. Aron, Goldman Sachs’ commodity group, as vice president. Later, in 2003, he relocated to CIBC World Markets and became executive director.

His knowledge of financial markets made him one of the first panellists on CNBC’s “Fast Money” when the program debuted in 2006. He is a core member of the “Fast Money Five,” well-known as “The Negotiator.”

Beyond TV, Adami regularly speaks at colleges, including Quinnipiac, Adelphi, the University of Richmond, Fordham, and his alma mater, Georgetown. Additionally, he is a member of the Keppler Speakers Bureau and presents financial and investment seminars.

Sporting Success and Charity

Adami finished the day of the New York City Ironman in 16 hours, 19 minutes, and 52 seconds in 2012. He swam 2.4 miles on the Hudson River (1:09:03), rode 112 miles on the Palisades Parkway (8:15:05), and ran 26.2 miles (6:27:12). A New York Times article called “The Road to the Ironman” tracked his path; a follow-up piece appeared following the event.

The New Jersey Chapter of The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society, where he serves on the Board of Trustees, was the beneficiary of his participation in the Ironman, which was part of a fundraising campaign for the charitable organisation.
